Rare Cleveland Bay Breed Showcased by BREYER® ANIMAL CREATIONS®...

Breyer® Model Depicting Bay Haven Farm’s Tregoyd Journeyman

To Debut At BreyerFest®!

(Pequannock, NJ – June 6, 2006) -- Mighty, mild, and marvelous, the rare Cleveland Bay is Breyer's newest equine sculpture! This British breed is on the critically endangered list of the Rare Breed Survival Trust, along with the Bengal Tiger, the Snow Leopard, and the Giant Panda. Less than 550 Cleveland Bays are thought to exist today and only 220 are mares of breeding age.

Sculpted by artist Karen Gerhardt, the Breyer® Cleveland Bay is depicted mid-trot and captures the strength, power, and substance of this rare breed! Award winning stallion Tregoyd Journeyman, owned by Bay Haven Farm, Round Hill, Va., is an excellent representation of the Cleveland Bay breed, and was selected after an exhaustive search by Breyer as the first Cleveland Bay portrait model.

Foaled in 1999 in Wales, Tregoyd Journeyman was raised as a breeding stallion. In Wales, he won Champion Purebred at the Southern Cleveland Bay Breeders Club, and Reserve Champion of Breed at the King George V Cup Competition, an annual show held at the York Livestock Centre, in Murton, York, to select the highest quality breeding stock in Cleveland Bay stallions.

Imported to the United States where it is hoped that he will play a key role in the revitalization of the Cleveland Bay in North America, Tregoyd Journeyman, known as “Joe,” resides with his equine and human families at Bay Haven Farm, Round Hill, Virginia.

Nestled in the middle of Virginia hunt country, near the Middleburg equestrian community, it’s the only farm in the area with a Cleveland Bay breeding program. Joe is already doing his part to help re-invigorate and popularize the breed; he has sired two purebred fillies and colts, two part-bred foals and two more foals are expected this summer.

Joe will also be a special guest at BreyerFest, to be held July 28-30, 2006 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. where he most certainly will gain new fans for the Cleveland Bay breed.
