Jiminy Crickett and Jennifer Reid in the Hunt for Winter Equestrian Festival Circuit Championship
Equestrian News Release
Wellington, FL – March 15, 2006 – Thanks to another reserve championship in the last week of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, the CN Wellington Finale, Jiminy Crickett and Jennifer Reid of Wellington, FL, are in a close race for a WEF circuit championship.
The Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunter division is one of the largest and most competitive divisions at WEF. On Saturday, March 11, Jiminy Crickett jumped to first and second place ribbons in the Rost Arena. The division was moved to Ring 8 on Sunday, where Jiminy Crickett received sixth and seventh places. Their top ribbons gave them the reserve championship. In addition to Jiminy Crickett, Reid also rode Bonafide in the same division and received ribbons in many classes.
“Jiminy performed as well as we could have expected him to, being in a completely different ring than he had grown accustomed to,” Reid commented. “He handled the pressure well, but was a little strong in the corners. He jumped really well and gave it a good try though!”
The pair’s third tricolor ribbon in three weeks has vaulted them in the standings for a WEF circuit championship. They will show at WEF once it relocates to Tampa, FL, on March 22 to April 1.
“Jiminy Cricket is currently second in the end-of-circuit standings, so to miss the opportunity to acquire more points in Tampa would be a mistake,” Reid said. “We're going to go to Tampa and give it our best shot!”
Reid rides Jiminy Crickett with Bainbridge Farm, which is owned by Richard Schechter. As owner of Bainbridge Farm, Schechter has horses that compete in the Adult Amateur Hunters, Pre-Green Hunters, and Pony Hunters.
