Rob Bielefeld & Lansing Dominate Low Hunter 2' 9" Division

WELLINGTON, Fla., April 2--Rob Bielefeld and Lansing dominated the Low Hunter 2 ft. 9 in. division Wednesday with double blue ribbon rounds in both over fences classes making them champion for the final week of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising.

Bielefeld, of Wellington and the five-year-old gray gelding owned by Bainbridge Farm of Wellington won both over fences class giving them a total of four first place ribbons in the division for the final week of WEF.

Lansing has been a mount for Bielefeld for two years but this is his first show at WEF after some time off.

"He is an up and coming quality young horse," Rob said. "I'm pleased he came back on such a strong note. This was his first time in the ring and everything kept his attention so he held his shape nicely. He is a beautiful looking horse, a great jumper and a good mover."

Reserve champion honors went to Nora Thomas of Wellington and the six-year-old bay gelding, Van Robi, owned by KW Unlimited of Kailua, Hawaii. The pair placed first in the over fences class Tuesday and pinned second in the first round on Wednesday.

The Hawaiian-raised gelding has been with the Thomas's for the past two years. This week is his second show at WEF. He was reserve champion of this division four weeks ago. Von Robi's sire, Nirobi, was a long time mount for Morgan Thomas.

"He is really cute because he is starting to get it," Nora said. "He is a good jumper with a good soul, very sweet. It's nice to have a Nirobi baby. He is like our mascot."
