Youth Program Is The Right Start for the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo
Free Student Passes for Friday Events

Horse enthusiasts of all ages can learn the ropes (and the saddles and bridles) of equestrian pleasures at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, but this October, the Horse Expo targets an especially important audience: youth. Friday’s schedule will feature an informative program called “The Right Start,” geared to young horse enthusiasts and their families. In fact, the Horse Expo is so committed to the next generation of horsemen and women, Friday’s admission is free for all students.
Kids and horses make a natural match, but in today’s increasingly urban communities, it can be confusing for families to figure out how to participate in the world of horses. Buying a first horse, going to the first show, signing up for Junior Rodeo—even finding a vet—can challenge the most ardent novice horseman. But the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo aims to demystify all that.
At Friday’s “Right Start” program, young horse enthusiasts and their families can learn from youth world champs and junior rodeo clock-beaters as well as from parents and instructors sharing the adult perspective. A few of the RMHE professionals will drop in and offer advice, too.
Topics will include:
-Getting started with horses
-How to win in the show pen: it’s not just the ribbons
-Rodeo opportunities, from trophies to scholarships
-How to break into the world of horse training
-Horse care basics (feed, shelter, and building the right horse care team)
-Planning for a horse’s future
