SBS Farms Cleans Up With Championships and a Derby Win at Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic Horse Show

Cleveland, OH - July 21, 2008 - SBS Farms couldn't be stopped as they won many championships and the USHJA International Hunter Derby at Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic Horse Show. The show ran from July 16-20th.

SBS Farms was unstoppable in the hunters. Jennifer Alfano rode to many championships and wins this week. The Specialist, owned by Meredith Lipke Bartolone, was First Year Green Hunter Champion with three firsts, a third and a fifth.

Sting, owned by Helen Lenahan, was in top form, gathered championships and was Grand Hunter Champion of the show. For the Second Year Green Hunter championship, he picked up three firsts and two second-place ribbons. He was also Green Conformation Hunter Champion with five firsts and a fifth.

Rock Star, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC, came away the championship in the Regular Working Hunters with four firsts and a fifth. He was also named Grand Hunter Champion, tied with his barnmate Sting. Jersey Boy, owned by SBS Farms, picked up reserve champion in the Regular Working Hunters, gathering two firsts, two seconds and two thirds. Reserve champion in the Pre-Greens was South Beach, another Bright Star 158-owned entry, with two firsts, third and fourth-place ribbons.

Once and Again and owner Meredith Lipke Bartolone rode their way to a reserve championship in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. They came away with two firsts, second, fourth and fifth-place ribbons. On her other horse The Specialist, they received two firsts, third, fourth and fifth-place ribbons.

In the competitive $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, Jennifer Alfano and Jersey Boy were in top form. Receiving the highest scores in both rounds, their stunning rounds secured the winning spot. Not only was Alfano first, she was also second on Rock Star and sixth overall on Sting.

"The horses were great, actually. All the horses went really well all week, and we had a fantastic show all the way around," said Alfano. "The derby was beautiful. They did a really nice job. The course was fantastic and so were the jumps. Our horses really responded well to it."

Megan Massaro was a star on Double Diamond in the Adult Amateur Jumpers. She and Double Diamond were awarded the first-place prize. She also rode Only Jumping Boy in the Level 3 Jumpers and picked up a third place, and they were fifth and seventh in the Adult Jumpers.

The ponies held their own in the hunters as well. Alex Trolli and her pony Inspector Gadget gathered three blue ribbons and one second-place ribbon in the Small/Medium Children's Pony Hunters. Winning all three jumping classes, they were named champion of the division. The Most Happy Fella and Sara Rimmler were champion with a first and three second-place ribbons in the Large Children's Pony Hunters.

SBS Farm is home for the week them plan to show for two weeks in Saugerties, NY, at the HITS on the Hudson competitions.
