SBS Farms Sweeps Two Champion and Two Reserve Champion Circuit Awards at HITS Ocala Winter Circuit

Ocala, FL - March 17, 2009 - SBS Farms had a great finish to their 2009 winter season at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. Led by trainer Susie Schoellkopf and rider/trainer Jennifer Alfano of Buffalo, NY, the horses won two circuit championships and two reserve circuit championships in addition to weekly tricolors in the final show.

Alfano rode horses to two tricolors this week. South Beach, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC, was the circuit champion in the Cismont Manor Green Conformation Hunters. South Beach added to his tally with this week's reserve championship in the division. He was second in the model, first, second, and third over fences, second in the handy hunter, and second under saddle.

In his first year showing at 3'6", South Beach has settled into his position very well. "He has been great all winter, ever since his first show in Jacksonville," Alfano said. "He has won at least one class every week he has showed."

The Specialist was the champion this past week in the Second Year Green Hunters, which helped him claim the reserve circuit championship in the division. This week, The Specialist, owned by Meredith Lipke Bartolone and ridden by Alfano, won two over fences classes and was second in the other two classes and was first under saddle.

"The Specialist has been really consistent and has been great for Meredith in the amateurs too," Alfano noted. "He has definitely stepped up this year, and he has matured. He's always the same, every day. There are no tricks to him."

Jersey Boy, owned by SBS Farms, was the reserve circuit champion in the Regular Working Hunter division. He won this award after only competing in three weeks of the winter circuit. The talented gelding and Alfano were also the victors in the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby held in Ocala.

Alfano also rode Kid Rock, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC, won the handy hunter class last week in the First Year Green Hunters.

Blue Ridge Sunset, owned by Harper Hills LLC, was the Large Pony Hunter Circuit Champion. He was ridden throughout the circuit by owner Sara Rimmler and Taylor Ann Adams. Adams piloted the pony this week to the reserve championship. They received three second places over fences. Blue Ridge Sunset won a tricolor ribbon in every week that he competed. Alfano said, "He has been super consistent, and Sara is learning a lot with him."

SBS Farms will compete next at the Tampa Equestrian Festival in Tampa, FL, on March 18-22, with two horses-Extraordinary and Kid Rock- in the First Year Green Hunters.
