SBS Farms Garners Two Tricolors in Jacksonville A to Z Horse Show

Green Cove Springs, FL - February 4, 2009 - SBS Farms competed in their last show in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville A to Z Horse Show on January 28 - February 1. They were successful at the show, and the horse show series was a great start to their winter show season. SBS Farms is led by trainer Susie Schoellkopf and rider/trainer Jennifer Alfano and is based at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center in Buffalo, NY.

Meredith Lipke Bartolone of Buffalo had a good beginning to the year. She rode The Specialist, a seven-year-old gelding, to the reserve championship in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. The pair won two classes and were fourth and fifth in the division. Bartolone also piloted Once and Again to a first place finish.

This was Bartolone's first horse show of the year, and she and her horses had not competed since the National Horse Show in November. "I was a little rusty," she smiled, "but it ended up well. This was my first time showing in Jacksonville. The rings are big, the fences are beautiful, and it's a very nice horse show."

Bartolone was pleased with her horses. She noted that Once and Again is a "veteran" and "knows her job and does it." The younger horse, The Specialist, who is known as "Elton" in the barn, is "losing his greenness."

She added, "He pays more attention now because he is very curious about his surroundings. He's much more focused. Jen has brought him to a new level in his balance, his jumping style, everything. He has a great attitude, which has not changed. He's willing and happy to do his job."

The Specialist and Jennifer Alfano won in the Second Year Green Hunters and had solid ribbons in the division. Alfano rode Kid Rock, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC and Jennifer Burger, to the reserve championship in the First Year Green Hunters after they finished first, second, and fourth in the division.

Also competing at the show was Sara Rimmler, who rode her pony Blue Ridge Sunset. They won the Equitation 11 & Under flat class and were third in the WIHS Pony Equitation. They placed well in the Large Pony Hunters and were sixth in the Large Pony Hunter Classic.

SBS Farms will compete next at the first week of the Ocala Winter Circuit in Ocala, FL, on February 4-8, 2009.
