Schuyler Riley Posts Opening Day Win at Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic

Hamilton, MA – September 7, 2006 – Young Jumpers took center stage on opening day of the 2006 Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic in Hamilton, Massachusetts on Wednesday, and Wellington, Florida’s Schuyler Riley took home top honors.

A Level 6 event, the class was scored under Table II, Sec 2(b) format. The Young Jumper course was designed by Richard Jeffery of Bournemouth, England. His design for the first round course had a time allowed of 74 seconds, and the jump-off track allowed 43 seconds for riders to complete the short course without penalty.

Riley guided her mount, Undine, to a blue ribbon finish. She and Undine, owned by Turtle Hall Farm, tripped the timers without fault in 32.738 seconds, and the duo’s hasty time held up for the top spot on the leader board.

“Undine is a six year old mare that I bred from my old Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper,” commented Riley about her Young Jumper. “I showed her last week at the Myopia Jumper Classic, and she was great. She’s super easy and gives it her best every time she goes in the ring. The field rode really well today,” she added. “I had pretty good size studs in, so I think that helped a lot.”

“It’s really nice that they have just two rings here and that it’s only jumpers,” continued Riley. “This show is similar to those in Europe because everything is geared toward the exhibitors and the horses, and they also work hard to make it nice for the spectators.”

Riley will continue to show Undine in the Young Jumper classes and will move her up for the Mohegan Sun Speed Stake on Sunday, September 10.
