Show Jumping Trainer Extraordinaire George Morris Joins Equestrian Idol Judging Panel on February 9th

WESTPORT, CT - January 22, 2008 - Regarded among the smallest circle of individuals who have had (and continues to have) an immeasurable impact on the equestrian sport, U.S. Show Jumping Chef d' Equipe George H. Morris will join the Equestrian Idol Judging Panel as Celebrity Judge on February 9, 2008 at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.

The lineup includes Robert "Ryan Seacrest" Dover, as Emcee and judges, Mason "Simon Cowell" Phelps, Susie "Paula Abdul" Schoellkopf, and Mark "Randy Jackson" Leone. Equestrian performers Heather Caristo, Mary Charette, Patricia Griffith, Casey Hodges, Brian Lookabill, Ki-Juan Minors and Chad Watridge will have to withstand the scrutiny of the judges, especially George Morris, to claim the title of Equestrian Idol.

Chef d'Equippe of the Gold Medal 2004 Show Jumping Olympic Team and the 2008 Team that will compete in Beiijing, George Morris was the youngest person to ever win the AHSA Hunt Seat Medal Finals and the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Finals, accomplishing this at the age of 14. He also represented the United States Equestrian Team on the gold medal winning team at the Pan Am Games in 1959 and the silver medal winning team at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, Italy.

The Equestrian Idol event, sponsored by Newman's Own along with underwriting sponsors, SKYY Spirits and the Callari Auto Group, raises funds for The EQUUS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity established to raise public awareness of the valuable role horses play in society. EQUUS accomplishes its mission through education and the award of grants to charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote horse welfare, and elevate the equestrian sport.

Tables of six are available as follows: Gold: $5,000, Silver: $3,500 and Bronze: $2,500. Individual seats are $250 per person. For more information, The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., by mail at 168 Long Lots Road, Westport, CT 06880, by phone at (203) 259-1550, by email at equusfoundation@aol.com, or RSVP Online at the EQUUS website at http://www.equusfoundation.org.
