The Specialist Shows How It Is Done At The Tampa Equestrian Festival

Tampa, FL - April 1, 2008 - The Specialist lived up to his name on the first morning of competition at the Tournament of Champions, part of the Tampa Equestrian Festival, held at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center as he and rider Jennifer Alfano were presented with top honors in both Green Working Hunter over fences classes.

"We just came to the show this week," said Alfano, who brought a string of exceptional horses to in Tampa. "He is only six and I just got the ride on him. This is the second show I have done with him. He is fun and easy. He has such a nice stride and is so adjustable. He's had two weeks off and was really good out there."

Only the top place was the same in each of the classes. The rest of the ribbons bounced around between numerous riders and horses. Second to The Specialist in the first over fences class was True Fate and Amanda Steege. Reserve in the second class belonged to Mary Lisa Leffler and Meant For Me. The blue ribbon in the under saddle class went to Mary Eufemia on Unbelievable.

The Regular Working Hunters had a big change at the top. Clarity and Kelley Farmer had been sweeping this division for two weeks but decided to pass on the Division this week. Today saw the blue ribbon in the first over fences class go to Rock Star ridden by Jennifer Alfano and the blue in the second over fences class also go to Alfano aboard her second horse Jersey Boy.

Kelley Farmer did garner top honors aboard Guess Again in the Green Conformation division's first class over fences, held this morning. First place in the second class went to Alfano with Sting. Second place in both classes was Russian Gold and Amanda Steege.

Standout performers during the previous two weeks at the Tampa Equestrian Festival, Amazing T and Ann Louise Powers and Unmistakable with Mary Eufemia each won a class in the Pre-Green Hunter division for three and four year old horses.

Pre-Green Hunters finished up the day with their large classes. Jennifer Alfano was again in the winners circle with Chance Encounter who captured the blue ribbon in each of the two classes. Taking a second and a third was Petit Pointe with owner rider Jimmy Torano. Third and second was Jennifer Alfano again, this time aboard Kid Rock.

Competition in the Tournament of Champions continues through Saturday, April 5th. The Tampa Equestrian Festival runs from March 19-April 6, 2008. The highlight class for hunters at the Tampa Equestrian Festival is the $20,000 ASG Software Solutions USHJA International Hunter Derby. The class will host a "Tradition, Tailgate, Top Hat, and Tails" party and will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Wrenwood Farm in Naples, FL.
