Spring into action at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo and Green Ranch & Home Show

Every arena, paddock and booth will be busy for the first 2009 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, coming to Denver in March, with a great balance of clinicians, industry experts and horse care specialists. Horse demonstrations, private treaty horse sales, great shopping and fun for the kids round out the program. Plus, we’re “going green” this year, with the addition of the Green Ranch & Home Show to the roster. Add to that a championship WRCA Ranch Rodeo and an Extreme Cowboy Race™, and you’ll see why the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo is the smart place to gear up your ranch and riding program for the season.

Rocky Mountain Horse Expo clinicians include:

-Debbie Bibb – Building the Horse of a Lifetime

-Craig Cameron – Hosting the Extreme Cowboy Race™, plus clinics

-Art Kiger – Find Your Passion with Horses

-Jason Patrick – Practical Natural Horsemanship

-Glenn Ryan, USFS – Safe and Efficient Packing

-Karen Scholl – Horsemanship for Women (and men)

-Wayne Williams – Search for America’s Horse Idol

Horseman’s College and the Trail Rider Conference will feature:

-Kathy Doeskin, CSU – Manure management

-Dr. Jessica Dunbar – Equine First Aid for the Trail

-Dr. Brett Kirch, CSU

-Mike Reedy – Back Country Horsemen of America

-Kathie Riley – Colorado Horse Council

-Christopher D. Whitney – Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance

-Missy Wryn – Wholistic Health

The Extreme Cowboy Race™ hosted by Craig Cameron is always a crowd-pleaser. Cowboys and cowgirls complete an obstacle course at speed, and are marked by a panel of judges on horsemanship, cadence, control, horse's attitude, and overall execution; speed is a weighted element in the score. Watch the Extreme Cowboy Race™ as part of the daily admission to the Expo. To participate, contact Dalene Cameron at (254) 728-3082 or doublehornd@lipan.net for requirements and fees.

The Denver Championship WRCA Ranch Rodeo will rock the Event Center on Saturday night with cowboy teams from the nation’s leading ranches competing for the honor of their ranch brands—and some material goods, as well. Among other prizes, the Top Ranch will walk away with a $2000 credit toward the purchase of a prize bull from Five Star Cattle Systems. To compete, the ranch team must register with the WRCA; contact info@rockymountainhorseexpo.com . The Ranch Rodeo is a ticketed event.

The Green Ranch & Home Show (included with Horse Expo admission) will highlight technology and progress in sustainable practices and renewable energy for everyone, from horse operations to suburban homes. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. John Stulp, the Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture. Speakers include:

-Paul Kreisher, Lightly Treading – Energy Efficiency

-David Lyskawa, SolSource – Solar Energy Options and Advances

-Robert Mailander, Governor’s Energy Office – Colorado’s Energy Outlook

-Chris Martin, Headwaters Energy & Finance – Wind Energy Technology

-Don McClendon, Delta-Montrose Electric Association – Geo-Exchange

-Aaron Perry, Rocky Mountain Sustainable Enterprises – Bio-Fuels

-Steve Schott, Pedro’s Planet – New Options in Recycling

-Wendy White, CO Dept of Agriculture – Agri-tourism & “Colorado Proud”
