Handicap Children Need Help Finding Stolen Horse in Texas

IDAHO ALERT - Red & White Paint Mare Stolen in Vidor (Orange County), Texas, May 9, 2006

Vidor, TX - A horse that has helped thousands of disabled children is missing in Texas. Steven Nichols says on May 9th or 10th; someone entered his property off Old Spanish Trail in Orange County, Texas and cut a hole in his fence. Flashy was gone...in a flash!

Thousands of horses are stolen annually in the United States. Stolen Horse International, Inc. has had many reports from the sate of Texas. It is not unusual for horses to disappear without a trace, often with the help of horse thieves.

Nichols and his family cannot begin to describe the grief they feel not knowing what happened to this very special mare. Not only doses Flashy, a nine year old red and white Tobiano paint mare, mean a great deal to the Nichols family, she is loved deeply by the children that enjoy her riding her for therapy.

"She is gentle and loves children. She needs to come home!” says Steven Nichols.

“Flashy participates in the annual Wildwood Sports day, and we cannot imagine participating without Flashy, “says Kathy Nichols.

The annual event for the physically challenged will be held Saturday May 20, 2006.

The Nichols do so much to help others... now they need our help.

Flashy has been working with handicapped children for 8 to9 years, and to lose her to someone that doesn’t even know what they have taken is a shame, “says Nichols.

For the last 8 to 9 years she's been working with handicapped kids, and to lose her to someone that doesn't even know what they took," said Nichols. "It was a shame to steal something from me, but they stole the livelihood of a lot of handicapped kids."

Steven Nichols needs help finding his horse so Flashy can continue to help the children that love her so much. Flashy has left the pasture. How she left does not matter to the children who love her. The children just want her back.
