Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament Featuring the National Horse Show Hosts Meeting

Ocala, FL - March 4, 2009 - The Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament featuring The National Horse Show held an informal meeting yesterday in the food court at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit show grounds. The meeting, led by Mason Phelps Jr., Chairman of the National Horse Show, was held as a forum to help the organizing committee gain information and feedback from the professionals concerning all aspects of the Syracuse/National Horse Show.

The meeting was attended by over 30 hunter and jumper professionals who enjoyed beverages complimentary of the HITS team. Consistent with previous meetings held in Wellington, FL, and Thermal, CA, this group had an overall feeling that last year's horse show went well, but discussed areas where improvements could be made.

Some topics raised were how to make the show more appealing to the hunters, the possible inclusion of a hunter derby or classic, limiting riders to one horse per class, having the show 'A' versus 'AA' rated, and finding a balance between the hunters and jumpers. Both the hunter and jumper professionals had ideas for improvements and many suggestions and opinions were discussed. Mostly, the professionals expressed high praise for the show and those involved.

"It is the best show that looks like a European show," stated Kim Land.

When the discussion turned to the junior divisions trainer Diane Carney shared her opinion, saying, "Syracuse is a special show for the people from the Mid-West. It is good to have other classes for kids to show in."

Emil Spadone expressed his view, stating, "Syracuse is a fantastic show; nobody does it better."

Mason Phelps, Jr., Chairman of the National Horse Show expressed his gratitude for the feedback given at the meeting. "We are always happy to receive the opinions of the professionals and work on making improvements," Phelps stated. "We look forward to another great year and we appreciate their continued support."
