Beacon Hill Show Stables Triumphs in Tampa at Winter Equestrian Festival

Catherine Pasmore Recovers from Injury for Pessoa USEF Hunt Seat Medal Win; Schaub Dominates Junior Hunters

Tampa, FL – April 2, 2007 – After eight weeks of competition in Wellington, FL, Beacon Hill Show Stables traveled to the west coast of Florida to participate in the Winter Equestrian Festival at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center in Tampa. Under the tutelage of Frank and Stacia Madden, students at Beacon Hill had another successful week in the hunter, jumper, and equitation arenas, and numerous blue ribbons were added to their impressive collection of awards.

Catherine Pasmore rode for first place honors in the Pessoa USEF Hunt Seat Medal with her equitation horse Let’s Go M. Pasmore recently recovered from a broken collarbone, which kept her out of the saddle for most of the WEF season. After this hiatus, the young rider is back in full force, and she led the victory gallop in the Low Junior Jumper class with her mother’s horse Oregon and also won ribbons in the High Junior Jumpers with Haddon House Carlsen.

In the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters, Maria Schaub piloted Heartfelt for owner Laura King-Kaplan, and the pair picked up top ribbons and the division championship. Heartfelt was also champion of the Second Year Green Hunters with Scott Stewart in the irons. In the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters, Schaub captured four blue ribbons over fences with North Country, another mount owned by King-Kaplan, and the duo earned the tricolor as well.

Tiziano and Jessica Springsteen performed well in the Large Junior 15 and Under Hunters, and they came away with two seconds, a fourth, a sixth, and the reserve championship. Springsteen also rode beautifully in the equitation ring with her horse Papillon 136. She won the ASPCA Maclay, finished third in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, took third overall for the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Equitation class, and received fourth in the Pessoa USEF Medal. Schaub finished in second place in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search aboard I Toon, and she ranked fifth overall for the WIHS.

In the pony ring, Brighton Day Glo and Caroline Lubrano were awarded the reserve championship for the Children’s Hunter Pony division after they earned a first, two thirds, and a fourth.

Brianne Goutal and Mon Gamin finished third in the 1.40m Acorn Hill Farm Challenge in the jumper arena, and Nicole Lakin came in second with Alaska in the $5,000 Medium Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. In addition, Hillary McNerney earned second and sixth place ribbons in the $1,500 Children’s Jumper Classic with C-2 and Vainqueur, respectively.

Beacon Hill Show Stables will show next week at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center during the final week of competition at the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival.
