Nine Teams Qualified for “Ride of Champions”

Organizers of Super Ride VII: The 2009 United States Equestrian Drill Championship (USEDC) have confirmed that nine (9) teams are qualified for the 2009 USEDC Ride of Champions. The competition will be held on Friday, evening June 26th in the main arena at the Texas Rose Horse Park, near Lindale.

The city of Lindale, Texas is the host community and title sponsor of the 2009 championship. The USEDC will run June 24 - 27, at the horse park and will bring together top mounted color guard and drill team units from throughout the United States.

Teams qualified for the 2009 USEDC Ride of Champions include the two time defending National Open Drill Champion Canadian Valley Rangerettes (Oklahoma), the 2004 National Champion Matagorda County Thundering Hooves (Texas), the Ghostriders Precision Drill Team (Texas), the Bellville Heritage Cowgirls (Texas), Prime Time Express (Texas), the 2003 National Champion Latigo N Lace (Washington), the Easy Riders (Missouri), The 2006 National Champion Cowgirl

Express (Ohio) and the 2005 National Champion Visalia Rockettes (California).

The USEDC Ride of Champions is open to USEDC Open Division National Champions, Reserve Champions and Second Runners-up from previous Super Ride competitions. The Ride of Champions is contested under a special set of rules (teams not to carry flags) and will be judged by a nationally recognized panel, led by Robert Lorbeer, a California attorney and Captain of the internationally known Sacramento Sheriff's Posse.

The winning team will be awarded the prestigious SportsQuest Cup – a perpetual trophy symbolic of excellence in all facets of equitation and drill team competition. In 2008, the SportsQuest Cup was captured by the Canadian Valley Rangerettes, with the Matagorda County Thundering Hooves a close second.

“Our focus this year is clearly on youth”, says Gary Bonner, a member of the USEDC Board of Directors. “Over the past six years, we have seen a continuous growth in the number of juniors and young riders competing across the nation. The level of competition at the Super Ride and the riding skills of these young competitors have been greatly advanced. This positive change is due, in great part, to the on-going drill clinics offered through the United States Equestrian Drill Association.”

Veterans and currently serving members of the United States military, and their immediate families, are invited to attend the Friday and Saturday sessions. Admission to the event will be free to military families – as special guests of the event's organizers.

USEDC ticket information and maps to the Texas Rose Horse Park are available on-line at: http://www.superride.eventbrite.com/

Block seating for veterans groups, military units and other organizations should be secured in advance. Please email requests to superridecomp@cs.com prior to Monday, June 15, 2009.

Full details on the competition, sponsorship and merchandising opportunities are available upon request. Kindly contact the United States Equestrian Drill Championship on 1-972-679-0770 or 1-214-502-8762.
