Telluride Farm's Caitie Hope Garners Championship at Atlanta Spring Premiere

Hope, Pearson, and Gorman Take Top Ribbons at Kentucky Spring Horse Shows

Conyers, GA - May 20, 2008 - This past week, Caitie Hope of Telluride Farm rode consistently well at the Atlanta Spring Premiere Horse Show in Conyers, GA, and came home with the championship ribbon. She piloted Lyle for the tricolor in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters, winning the first over fences class and the under saddle.

Sixteen-year-old Hope is a student at Barrington High School in Barrington, IL, and trains with Diane Carney of Telluride Farm. While in Atlanta, Hope rode with Don Stewart Jr. of Ocala, FL. Hope currently competes with two of the best junior hunters in the country: Lyle, owned by Stephanie Keen and trained by Don Stewart Jr., and Caped Crusader, owned by North Run and Missy Clark.

Stewart commented, "Caitie Hope and Lyle continued their winning ways with championship form in Atlanta this past weekend. We have another amazing match this year with Caitie and Lyle, the veteran junior hunter."

The week before, from May 7-11, Hope competed at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show in Lexington, KY. She earned second and third in the Low Junior Jumper Classic on her horses La Paz and Corrato, owned by Jennifer Hauser. She also earned top ribbons with Caped Crusader in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters and won the under saddle.

"Caitie has ridden consistently well in the junior hunter divisions with her horses," stated Carney. "She works really hard, and it's nice for her to receive recognition in the ring for her efforts."

Carney's student Hannah Gorman also rode well in the older Large Junior Hunters, and she jogged for ribbons with her horses, Cactus and Skyland's Wonder. Cactus is owned by Diane Carney.

Stephanie Pearson, who trains at Telluride Farm, had a successful two weeks at the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows as well. Pearson competes in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers with her mount Sympathico III.

"The conditions were very difficult at the show because of the rain and cold weather," said Carney. "It was a great experience for them because it prepared them for the show in Calgary later this summer. I'm pleased with how they did and that they didn't let the conditions bother them." She added, "I have to say, the footing held up very well and the horse show did what they could to keep everyone happy. They did a good job, and I think it was a good learning experience for my riders."

Carney, based out of Hampshire, IL, has been both an active participant and influential trainer in the hunter and jumper community for many years. Her contributions to the industry extend to the many clinics that she teaches every year, in addition to those that she hosts annually for U.S. Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe George H. Morris and top hunter/jumper trainer Don Stewart Jr. Carney is also a driving force behind the United States Hunter Jumper Association's High Performance Hunter Committee, which created the International Hunter Derby program that focuses on bringing the lost art of tradition and horsemanship back to the show ring.

Carney and her students will travel to the Devon Horse Show this week and continue on to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
