Telluride Farm Starts Off 2009 with Top Ribbons at Ledges Winter Series Horse Show

Roscoe, IL - January 13, 2009 - The horses and riders at Telluride Farm started the new year off with a successful week at the Ledges Winter Series Horse Show in Roscoe, IL. The students at Telluride Farm train with Diane Carney of Hampshire, IL.

Caitie Hope of Barrington, IL, piloted her equitation horse Carmachone for the blue ribbon in the ASPCA Maclay. Hope also came away with the overall win for the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Equitation class after winning the jumper phase and taking second in the hunter phase.

Alex Carlins competed aboard Telluride Farm's That'll Do and Diabella, owned by Kathleen Hope. Carlins had an outstanding week with his two mounts, consistently winning the championship and the reserve in three divisions. He showed in the Children's Hunter, the Modified Children's, and the Novice Children's Hunter divisions.

"Alex rode beautifully," said Carney. "He started riding with me about a month ago, and he seems to have really good timing. Even though he's new to showing, he's bright and loves riding. He's also loves the educational part of horsemanship, showing, and the horse. He showed two horses and has an ability to keep it together, putting down consistent score after consistent score."

Ginny Bartholomy showed Grey Goose, owned by Diane Carney, in the Adult Amateur Hunter division and won second place in the classic. "The most amazing part was that she got a high score of 84, and she usually does the jumpers," explained Carney. "She was having a really good time doing something different. She's ridden with me for years and has always done well in the Adult Jumpers. It was fun to watch her try something new and do so well with it."

"We had a really good weekend," Carney added. "We went to St. Louis in December, and everyone did a good job there as well. Alex and Caitie got some good ribbons."

The Telluride Farm team will compete for one week at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival and will then show at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit at the end of February. Caitie Hope will compete in the equitation with Carmachone and Cinch and will also show in the junior jumpers on La Paz and Ozaliat. Bartholomy and Carlins will also show at the competitions in Florida.

Carney is based out of Hampshire, IL, at her hunter/jumper show stable, Telluride Farm. She has been both an active participant and influential trainer in the hunter and jumper community for many years. Her contributions to the industry extend to the many clinics that she teaches every year, in addition to those that she hosts annually for U.S. Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe George H. Morris and top hunter/jumper trainer Don Stewart Jr.
