Telluride Farm Wins Big at Showplace Fall Classic and IHJA Medal Finals

Wayne, IL - September 25, 2007 - The horses and students of Telluride Farm, led by trainer Diane Carney, earned numerous ribbons, championships and medals last week at the Showplace Fall Classic at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL, from Sept. 19-23.

Professional rider and trainer Brenda Mueller and That'll Do continued their winning streak in the Regular Working Hunters, earning another tricolor to add to their collection to Showplace show series alone this year. This week, the pair earned a first, two seconds and a third place over fences and a first in the under saddle for the championship honors.

Junior rider Catie Hope made an excellent showing in the equitation with Carmachon, owned by Kathleen Hope, in preparation for the regional Maclay finals in Lexington, KY, next week. The pair took first place in the USEF/Pessoa Hunt Seat Medal Equitation, second place in the ASPCA Maclay and third overall in the WIHS Equitation Classic.

In addition, Hope debuted her new Large Junior hunter for the 2008 season, Caped Crusader. The veteran hunter is leased from Chicago-area trainer Alex Jayne for the season, and Carney called the pairing a "great match." Hope and Caped Crusader earned good ribbons in the over fences and under saddle classes of the Large Junior division this weekend.

"Catie is an all-around rider, and her success across the three disciplines shows that. We couldn't be more excited about her new partnership with Caped Crusader for 2008," Carney explained. "She's moving up into the older age group, and I think this is really going to be a partnership to watch."

Mueller coached rider Alexis Kuhn to top finishes in several classes as well. Kuhn rode Diabella, owned by Kathleen Hope, to first place ribbons in the IHJA Children's Medal Finals and the $1,000 Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Classic. Kuhn also earned good ribbons in the Low Children's Jumpers aboard No Regrets, owned by Carney.

Hannah Gorman also produced solid rounds this weekend for excellent results. Paired with Timex, owned by Carney, Gorman won the IHJA Children's equitation medal. Also, she placed ninth in the $1,000 Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Classic with Cactus, another Carney-owned entry.

Carney, based out of Hampshire, IL, from her Telluride Farm, has been both an active participant and influential trainer in the hunter and jumper community for many years. Her contributions to the industry extend to the many clinics that she teaches every year, in addition to those that she hosts annually for U.S. Show Jumping Chef d'Equipe George H. Morris and top hunter/jumper trainer Don Stewart Jr. Carney is also a driving force behind the United States Hunter Jumper Association's High Performance Hunter Committee, which seeks to develop a program that will bring the lost art of tradition and horsemanship back to the show ring.

Telluride Farm will show next in Lexington, KY, from Sept. 26-30, 2007.
