TheHorseStudio.com joins Willowview Hill Farm International to present "Working with Talent"

TheHorseStudio.com is pleased to sponsor a special clinic in collaboration with Willowview Hill Farm International, entitled "Working with Talent." The clinic will be presented at Willowview Hill International, Millbrook, New York on May 22nd, 2009.

"There is nothing quite as disheartening as seeing a truly talented horse overridden or overfaced, resulting in loss of confidence and soundness and limiting tremendous potential," states Swiss based FEI coach Greta Kemmer, "so the focus for this clinic will be toward encouraging the serious amateur or professional trainer to strategize carefully before beginning and during the training pyramid. American horse breeders have produced some incredible horses but without the correct training of these young prospects their profile will not be elevated to the level it deserves in the worldwide dressage market."

The format for the one day clinic will begin with demonstrations of horses in hand and then under saddle showcasing their different conformational and mental strengths and weaknesses. Greta Kemmer will lead a discussion on the methods to employ throughout their dressage training to overcome their weaknesses without deteriorating their soundness while building a confident mental attitude to work and developing their strengths to clearly illuminate their talent for the judges. " I've been privileged to work with some super trainers over the years and have some great experiences showing abroad as part of the Willowview Hill Team. I know that expressions such as a lazy left hind leg often mask a soundness issue that has developed because of a riders bias in training patterns or zealous training past the point of mental and physical comfort. When things are going well it is hard to pause and reflect that maybe the workout should be ended," comments Tina Hammond of Willowview Hill International.

A gourmet lunch of California salads, gluten free home baked breads, Scottish smoked spey salmon, Gordon Ramsay recipe omega rich fish and seasonal farm fresh vegetable dishes plus organic juices and teas will be provided courtesy of TheHorseStudio.com, who will also delight the attendees with a Spring Trunk Sale. The Trunk Sale will highlight cypress and celery green apparel lines from Kyra K, and the hot new European fashions including this seasons 'de rigeur' chic white schooling jackets and riding vests. " Expect an extensive array of new bridlewear too, including Andalusian style halters and bridles. Plus naturally your competition needs, such as the latest "piaffe" whips with new lengths, traditional Schultheis spurs and more books and DVDs than you can shake that whip at," comments Kathy Collins of TheHorseStudio.com. A percentage of the proceeds of the items sold at TheHorseStudio.com trunk sale will be donated to charity. " I hope if you can't make the clinic you will stop by online and check out our ongoing sale there, " adds Kathy Collins.

During the afternoon each rider will have an opportunity to ride on a one on one lesson basis with Greta Kemmer, who will guide each participant in constructing a positive workout routine that honors the nature and conformation of the individual horse. At the finish of each session, Tina Hammond will provide a DVD of the lesson to the rider so that work at home can continue following the in depth protocols laid out in the lesson.

At the close of the afternoon rides, Paul Alvin-Smith, President of TheHorseStudio.com will present a grand prize to the participant that a vote from the auditors considers the most improved team. " We've put together the best of everything for the serious dressage rider in this prize," Paul states smiling, " Kyra K white crochet show gloves and passage whip, Matador show breeches which were voted best comfort breech in the UK, a show blouse from ELS House in Paris, and a set of extra long horse polos. You can never have enough polos! We are also giving the runner up a set of English saddle design bath towels and a handy set of exquisite horse lover stationery for use away from home.

And in the spirit of not leaving anyone out, every participant will receive a dressage design soup mug. It promises to be a great day for everyone and most importantly this clinic puts the welfare of the horse front and center!"
