Thoroughbred Charities of America to affiliate with Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association

Sep. 15, 2008, Lexington, Ky, - Plans have been finalized for Thoroughbred Charities of America, ("TCA"), to affiliate with the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, ("TOBA").

TCA will be considered a supporting organization of TOBA with executive offices located in Lexington, Ky, and Middletown, De. TCA will operate just as it has in the past with the mission statement, "To provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers by supporting retirement, rescue and research and by helping the people who work with them".

"Thoroughbred Charities of America has established itself over the last two decades as one of racing's great success stories," said TOBA president Dan Metzger. "During this critical time in our sport, it is very important for TCA to strengthen and expand its reach across the entire country."

TCA was founded by its president, Herb Moelis, treasurer, Ellen Moelis and the late Allaire duPont in 1990. During the past 18 years, TCA has supported over 200 Thoroughbred organizations in 36 states with over $15 million dollars and is recognized as one of the most efficient charities in the U.S. In 2008, TCA granted over 96% of the funds raised to the causes it supports.

This year TCA will conduct its 19th Annual Stallion Season Auction beginning with a telephone auction on December 1. The auction will conclude on December 5 with a gala event and live auction of select seasons conducted by Fasig-Tipton Auctioneers at the Keeneland Entertainment Center.

The officers of the new board of directors of TCA are Herb Moelis, president, Dan Rosenberg, vice president, Ellen Moelis, treasurer, Amy Adkins, secretary, Liz Harris, executive director and board members include Jimmy Bell, Gary Biszantz, Nadia Sanan Briggs, Kathleen Crompton, Gretchen Jackson, Michael Levy, Robert Manfuso, Daniel Metzger, Mrs. J. Maxwell, Dr. James Orsini, Rob Whiteley, and Jack Wolf.

"The affiliation with a national organization like TOBA will provide TCA with the continuity we must have to carry our mission for many years into the future. It will also provide much support for us to acquire seasons for our major fund raiser, our annual stallion season auction." said Herb Moelis, TCA president.
