Thoroughbred Charities of America Approves $1.75 Million in Grants for 2006
Equestrian News Release
At it’s annual board meeting on May 13, 2006, Thoroughbred Charities of America (“TCA”) approved grants of $1,750,000 to 136 non-profits, representing equine rescue/retraining, backstretch/jockey, research, education scholarships and therapeutic riding facilities in 35 states.
With the 2005 hurricane season’s emergency grants on the minds of the TCA board, the $1,750,000 in grants approved by the board includes a $200,000 emergency grant fund. Following the meeting’s conclusion, the board meeting turned to celebration with co-board member Gretchen Jackson, the owner of Barbaro, winner of the 2006 Kentucky Derby.
“The board members of TCA are extremely grateful to the Thoroughbred farms that donated to our annual stallion season auction, enabling us to fulfill our mission of providing a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers and by helping the people who work with them.” said Executive Director, Liz Harris.
The December 1st Stallion Season Auction will be held at Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, KY. TCA is an affiliate of Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. For more information go to http://www.ThoroughbredCharities.org or call Liz Harris at 859-312-5531.
