Todd Minikus & Alaska Claim $25,000 Fidelity Investments 1.50m Classic

WELLINGTON, Fla., Feb. 14--Todd Minikus added to his FTI Winter Equestrian Festival successes with a win aboard Alaska in the $25,000 Fidelity Investments 1.50-meter Classic Saturday.
Of the 22 starters, six went clear but none could repeat the performance in the jumpoff.
Minikus of Wellington, and Alaska had the last rail down but posted the fastest time of 37.193. secs. Great Britain's Ben Maher and Quainton Quirifino Z, competing for the first time after a year off, came second with Taiwan's Jasmine Chen on Leroy Brown 17 third for her best finish so far at her inaugural WEF.
"I have sort of mixed emotions about it," Minikus said. "I made some snazzy turns early (to make time), but I'm perturbed at cutting it like I did at the last jump. I hate making mistakes."
