Toon and Invincible Awarded Amateur-Owner Hunter Championship Again at 125th National Horse Show

Syracuse, NY - November 4, 2008 - For the third time in this year's indoor season, Ellen Toon of South Salem, NY, was awarded the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunter Championship with Invincible. This time it was at last week's Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament featuring the 125th National Horse Show (NHS). Toon rides at JT Farm, based in South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL.

Toon and Invincible have had an incredible year, with wins ranging from the Winter Equestrian Festival Circuit Championship to grand championships at the Capital Challenge Horse Show and Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

This was "a fabulous way to end the year," Toon said. At the NHS, Toon had two horses in the division, which featured the top 11 older amateur hunters in the nation.

She and Invincible won their first two over fences classes in the division. They were the overall best round in the first two classes of both the younger and older amateur hunter divisions. For that win, they were honored with The Automation-Model Cadet Memorial Perpetual Trophy.

"That was pretty exciting," Toon beamed. "I was on a cloud. It was my first time winning that award, and it was really nice."

Invincible returned to the ring to place second in the under saddle and fifth in the final class, which gave him the championship. On Attache, Toon was fourth, fifth, and sixth over fences and third under saddle.

"He was so good," Toon said of Invincible. "You have to be the best to win here. They really put on a beautiful horse show here, and they only take a select few. To be here to compete at all is just an honor in itself. To be champion at any of the indoor shows is an honor. That is where everyone tries to get to."

Toon was the returning champion in the division, having won at last year's NHS in Florida with Attache, and she was reserve champion last year with Invincible. "It feels great to win two years in a row," she said. "Winning here, though, was a little more like the old National Horse Show. It was like an end of the season show, and it meant a lot."

In addition to Toon's success, other JT Farm riders performed well at the show. Carolyn Lichtenberg of Pelham Manor, NY, rode I-Toon to a solid performance in the ASPCA Maclay National Championship. In the same class was Katie Galbraith of Darien, CT, who had a great ride on Harley.

JT Farm is now looking forward to preparing for next year's winter show season in Wellington, where they have their second base of operations. For the finest hunter, equitation, and jumper instruction in the South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL, areas, look no further than JT Farm. At JT Farm, riders of all levels are welcome and are afforded the very best training by a staff of experienced, caring professionals who are committed to excellence in the show ring in equitation, hunters and jumpers.
