Tracy Fenney has four horses in the top 12 during the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix

OCALA, FL (February 27, 2009)—Tracy Fenney rode MTM Farm's MTM Centano to her first Grand Prix victory of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit, taking the blue in the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix on Thursday at HITS Post Time Farm, in Ocala, Florida.

Fenney guided MTM Centano to the fastest double-clear round on a course built by Danny Foster of Canada. Magness outlasted 16 riders in the first round and the eight who advanced to the jump-off course as she collected $7,500 in first-place prize money.

Starting the jump-off was Fenney and MTM Farm's MTM Timon. The duo jumped clear and set the pace right from the start setting the Great American Time to Beat at 38.493. When the class was complete, they would finish in fourth place.

Second on course was Hyde Moffat and Hawkestone Farm's Denver. A clear round in 39.881 landed the pair in sixth place at the end of the afternoon.

Third to show was Callan Solem and the Torlando Group's VDL Torlando. Solem laid the third consecutive clear round of the jump-off when they came home in 40.598 to finish in seventh place.

Fourth to go was Tracy Magness and Mr. and Mrs. John Bartko's Tarco Van Ter Moude. The pair entered the ring with three Grand Prix victories so far this circuit and they did their best to make it a fourth when they jumped fast and clean stopping the clock in 37.300 to finish in second place.

Next to go was Fenney and MTM Centano. They made the dash for the cash to become the new class leader when they stopped the clock in 37.040 to eventually win the blue. Fenney, who was last years Leading Grand Prix Rider at HITS Ocala, seems to be making up for lost time as she finished with four horses in the money and collected $10,750 for MTM Farm.

“I think all of my horses are starting to hit their stride,” said Fenney. “Last year we started out great and didn’t win the big class at the end of the circuit so I hope we are getting hot at the right time. It doesn’t get much better than having four horses get a ribbon.”

Sixth to go in the jump-off was David Beisel and Harlow Investment Enterprises' Moet Walk. A sixth consecutive clean effort in the jump-off placed the pair in third place when they stopped the clock in 37.553.

Seventh in the jump-off order was Mary Lisa Nicholson-Leffler aboard Rolling Acres Farm's Gerona 92. A single rail down early in the course landed them in eighth place.

Manuel Torres was sitting in the last-to-ride spot aboard Ana Maria Cadena's Chambacunero. A clean ride in 38.618 put Torres in fifth place to complete the class.

With her victory, Fenney earned valuable points toward the Catena Leading Lady Grand Prix Rider Award. The presentation of the Catena Leading Lady Rider Award will take place during the Ocala Winter Celebration on Sunday, March 15. Currently, Tracy Magness has a stranglehold on the award, but there are still five Grand Prix classes remaining on the schedule.

The leading female Grand Prix rider on the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit will receive a beautiful timepiece from Catena, USA, with 29 hand-cut diamonds on the bezel and a white mother-of-pearl dial inset with 12 diamonds.

Show jumping at HITS Ocala continues all weekend and will be highlighted by the $5,000 Children's Hunter Classic on Saturday evening and the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix on Sunday. Also on Sunday, the Purina Mills Kids day will take place, presented by The Talking Phone Book, featuring Arabian Nights.
