Second Annual Trail Ride Guide Hits Newsstands

160-page issue showcases trail riding as the new boomer sport-of-choice

Louisville, CO – What do baby boomers do with their spare time these days? Well, a great many of them are taking their lifelong affinity for horses out on the trail. >From new riders who’ve always wanted to do this, to show-weary veterans who want a more scenic route to self-fulfillment, droves of baby boomers are hitting the trails with their equine partners. Now, they can do it with the ultimate annual guide to where to go, what to pack, and how to take care of their horses along the way: the Trail Ride Guide by Trail Rider magazine.

Billed as a Special April 2007 issue, this annual guide was mailed to 38,000 + Trail Rider subscribers, and is now available on quality newsstands such as Border’s, Barnes & Noble, and Tractor Supply. At 160 pages, the heft of this guide is impressive by any standard.

Pat Eskew, publisher for Horse Media Group, the publishing house behind not only Trail Rider, but also Spin to Win Rodeo and Perfect Horse magazines, said, “According to America Horse Council’s latest study, the number of horses used primarily for recreational purposes is by far the largest segment of the horse population by more than one million. Trail Rider magazine uniquely serves a significant portion of this population. Our readership studies show that these folks are buying a significant quantity of high-end goods… the kind of goods that traditional thinking says only competitive riders buy. From fly spray and supplements to fully loaded trucks and trailers, trail riders are stepping out with some very well-cared-for horses. ”

Trail Rider’s editor Rene Riley said, “We put together an even stronger issue this year than last, with more out-of-the-way trails that our readers would likely never of heard without us. Our goal is to cement this as the must-have guidebook of trail riding every year.”
