Program on Equine Intelligence to Air on RFD-TV
Equestrian News Release
Just how smart is a horse, anyway? While much research has been done on horses, hardly any has been on "horse smarts," or equine intelligence. Fascinating discoveries will be made with the airing of a program on RFD-TV, on Jan. 16, 17 and 21, 2007. The program, "The Horse Show" with Rick Lamb, is broadcast on Dish Network, Direct TV, Mediacom and National Cable.
Tune in to see horses identify colors, pick out letters, numbers--even play cards! Inspired by the book, "Beautiful Jim Key, 2005, Harper Collins," Rick Lamb interviews its author, Mim Rivas, who tells about Jim Key, a turn of the 19th century "educated" horse, who performed inexplicable intellectual feats such as spelling and writing at nationwide World Fairs. Dr. Evelyn Hanggi of the Equine Research Institute, tells about her investigations into equine learning. The program concludes with scenes of a present-day educated horse trained by renowned trick horse trainer, author and clinician Carole Fletcher who has taught her horse to read. Fletcher is the author of "Trickonometry: Secrets of Teaching Your Horse Tricks, 2002, Horse Hollow Press" and "Healed By Horses," 2005, Atria/Simon and Schuster.
