Minnesota Horse Council Joins Unwanted Horse Coalition
Equestrian News Release
The Minnesota Horse Council has joined the Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC), bringing the total membership to 19 organizations.
"The UHC is thrilled that the Minnesota Horse Council has come on board," said Chairman Dr. Tom Lenz. "The fact that our membership continues to grow in size and diversity is extremely encouraging."
The UHC is a broad alliance of equine organizations that have joined under the umbrella of the American Horse Council (AHC). Its mission is to reduce the number of unwanted horses and to improve their welfare through education and the efforts of organizations committed to the health, safety, and responsible care and disposition of these horses.
The Minnesota Horse Council was founded in 1935 to provide a vehicle for horse owners and exhibitors to coordinate horse activities with the Minnesota State Fair Board. Since then, the Minnesota Horse Council has evolved into an organization uniting and supporting all statewide equine activities. Throughout its history, the Minnesota Horse Council has worked to encourage and support equine-related activities, concerns and education.
