Ulbert 390 Begins his American Career with Wins

Coatesville, PA—Earlier this summer Iron Spring Farm welcomed Ulbert 390 to its stallion roster. The impressive FPS approved Friesian barely hit American soil before he began winning at Third Level at top shows such as Dressage at Lexington with scores near 70%. Not only is his performance career in high gear, but the nine year old is already the sire of 15 Star stallions and 37 Star mares. Eighty-one percent of his offspring have been awarded First or Second Premie, including Iron Spring’s young Star stallion Jonas ISF who placed second in the Three Year Old Colts and Gelding at Dressage at Devon 2006 against the warmbloods.

“We’ve been having fun with Ulbert since he arrived,” says owner Mary Alice Malone. “He’s very intelligent and willing under saddle, and he’s a very good mover. He seems to enjoy showing and he’s very easy to be around—wonderful traits in a stallion.”

Ulbert was approved on offspring while still in Holland. He was awarded First Premie in 2002, 2003 and 2006. His dressage career began with eight wins as a four-year-old and has progressed steadily. He showed through the Z2 level in Europe, which is the equivalent of Third Level and includes single flying changes. “Ulbert is the type of horse that converts dressage-purists to Friesian fans,” Malone continues.

Ulbert’s pedigree reflects his conformation and athletic ability. His sire Sierk 326 has sired four approved stallions. His dam is from the important mare line 128, with his damsire being the immortal Leffert 306.

Malone explains, “Our goal is to provide American breeders with athletic bloodlines that produce attractive, rideable offspring. We believe that Ulbert helps us reach that goal.”
