USET Foundation Provides Over $2 Million for Olympic and World Championship Equestrian Programs in 2004

Gladstone, New Jersey (January 20, 2005) – The United States Equestrian Team Foundation (USET Foundation) officially announced that it provided more than $2 million in financial support for its Olympic and high-performance equestrian efforts last year. This money supported Olympic athletes and coaches in Dressage, Eventing, and Show Jumping, as well as the U.S. Team for the Driving World Championships. Additional supplemental grants also provided $50,000 directly to the Dressage athletes to assist them in their pre-Olympic training while in Europe.

“The USET Foundation Board of Trustees is extremely pleased with the support given by the Foundation members to our athletes,” said Frank V.D. Lloyd, Chairman of the USET Foundation Board. “We look forward to increasing our support of our equestrian athletes in the upcoming years, as we grow our development and fundraising program.
I would like to personally thank all those who contributed to the Foundation to help support our athletes’ medal-winning efforts.”

“Without the financial support of the USET Foundation, we would not have fared as well as we did at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, with medals won in all three disciplines – Dressage, Eventing, and Show Jumping – as well as two individual medals, the Individual Silver in Eventing and the Individual Bronze in Show Jumping,” said John R. Long, Chief Executive Officer of the United States Equestrian Federation, the national governing body for equestrian sport that is responsible for program development and execution. “The success of our athletes in Athens was due in large measure to the support of the USET Foundation. The partnership between the U.S. Equestrian Federation and USET Foundation allows our international athletes to have the programs and funding they need to win, and we look forward to expanding our efforts in the new Olympic quadrennium that will culminate with the 2008 Beijing Olympics.”
