GLADSTONE, NJ - April 29, 2008 - The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Beecroft, Academy Award Nominee for production design on the film "Dances With Wolves," has created a spectacular decor design for "One Team, One Dream - A Salute to Hong Kong," a benefit for the U.S. equestrian teams competing in Hong Kong.
The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Oaks Blenheim Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The festivities kick off at 7:00 PM and will feature cocktails, dinner, a live auction, live performances, video presentations, and dancing.
"One Team, One Dream - A Salute to Hong Kong," will be held concurrent with the 2008 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions, including the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team Selection Trials.
Elma Garcia, a television commercial producer, amateur dressage rider, and long-time supporter of the USET Foundation, is serving as the Event Planner and is a member of the USET Foundation Benefit Steering Committee for "One Team, One Dream - A Salute to Hong Kong."
Garcia brought in Jeffrey Beecroft and has been working closely with him to create a fantastic evening. To implement the spectacular design and event plan, Garcia has compiled an extraordinary team of professionals including caterer BeachFire Bar and Grill, with menu and staff coordinated by Cathy McKnight; a Chinese-themed performing troupe arranged by Lillibeth Bishop, Publicity and Promotions Manager, Hong Kong Tourism Board; and table seating and logistics by Signature Party Rentals coordinated by Diane Cardenas.
Beecroft's design for the benefit is structured on the venue - a tent which will be open on three sides, overlooking the Oaks Blenheim grounds. As guests drive up, they will step from their cars immediately into the theme of the night as the Asian atmosphere is showcased at the spectacular entrance to the tent. Chinese lanterns and dramatic banners will lead them to the entrance. There, two giant free-standing posters depicting a Chinese opera image with the words "One Team, One Dream - 2008 Hong Kong" will flank the doorway along with two performers from the troupe supplied by the Hong Kong Tourism board attired in traditional Chinese silks.
Inside the tent, guests will be awed by the elegant decor in a red, black, and gold motif. A huge cluster of Chinese lanterns will serve as the chandelier in the middle of the tent. The open side of the tent overlooks the Oaks Blenheim grounds below. Guests can step outside to this area, which will feature two wine bars and a spectacular double ice bar sponsored by Ketel One Vodka. While guests are enjoying cocktails, a troupe coordinated by the Hong Kong Tourism Board will perform a traditional 'good luck lion' performance and ribbon dances.
Following cocktails, guests will enjoy dinner comprised of an international menu catered by BeachFire Bar and Grill set up at four different food tables outdoors. Guests will be encouraged to move around the beautiful environs of the tent and sample all of the food stations. Members of the performance troupe will entertain in the tent and bar area.
After the dinner and a special video, a live auction will be conducted and then guests will enjoy dancing to a deejay outdoors under the California night skies. As they depart the magical "One Team, One Dream - A Salute to Hong Kong" evening, guests will receive a complimentary gift bag.
"This party is going to be amazing, thanks to Elma and all the incredible help from the athletes and supporters out in California," said Bonnie Jenkins, Executive Director of the USET Foundation. "We are looking forward to a wonderful evening raising much needed funds for our athletes to make their Olympic dreams a reality."
