Vinceremos Ground Breaking Draws Large Turnout of Supporters

Wellington, FL – January 15, 2007 – Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center officially launched its capital campaign “Cover Our Kids” with a ground breaking ceremony on Saturday, January 13. The event drew more than 100 students, parents, volunteers and community supporters.

“This is a marvelous project,” said Jim Corbin, a former VTRC board member who spoke at the ceremony. “The ground breaking signifies a move forward after many years, and it will make the facility much more accessible and comfortable for therapy. We have a lot of work left to do, but a great start has been made.”

The campaign is a three-part project that will increase the ability of the facility to serve its clients, enabling them to ride throughout the year in all weather conditions. Phase One will build a covered arena, Phase Two will expand stable and office work spaces, and Phase Three will improve the parking area.

Executive director Ruth Menor recognized the staff and volunteers who dedicate their time to improving the lives of others, and reminded attendees that “This is just the beginning.”

“We had an excellent turnout at the ground breaking and wonderful support from the community. This is something that we’ve been working toward for a very long time, and it is great that we can begin the development of the arena,” Menor explained.

Part of the ground breaking was dedicated to honoring Marcello and Diane Fiorentino of La Sirena restaurant in West Palm Beach. The Fiorentinos presented a check to the center for $33,175 at the ceremony, bringing the total they have donated to almost $100,000.

Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, based in Loxahatchee Groves, FL, is a nonprofit organization that provides recreational and therapeutic riding instruction to people of all ages with varying developmental, physical and psychological disabilities in an energetic and nurturing setting. The organization has assisted more than 1000 adults and children to gain a sense of accomplishment, greater independence and a higher quality of life. Currently, the center runs at least two classes simultaneously every week day and has more than 130 students who participate every week.

The organization will continue its fundraising efforts with an annual benefit and dinner dance, “Stars Unite,” on February 23, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, FL. The evening includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with a silent auction and dinner, and is co-chaired by Tuny Page, Cetty Weiss and grand prix rider Candice King.
