WELLINGTON, FL - February 13, 2009 - The Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (VTRC) is pleased to announce that they will be participating in the opening ceremonies this Sunday at the International Polo Club, beginning at 3 p.m. Their participation will help promote the Strides of Hope fundraiser, being held Friday, February 20, at the International Polo Club.
Riders from the VTRC will be leading in the carriage that the newly crowned 2009 Miss. American, Katie Stam, will be riding in to sing the National Anthem. "Our kids are excited to be involved with the equestrian community," said Ruth Menor, the Executive Director of the VTRC. "It's very nice to be welcomed by the International Polo Club, and have their assistance in promoting the VTRC." In addition to an announcement about the Strides of Hope Fundraiser, a table will also be set-up with more information on Sunday.
The Strides of Hope auction, dinner, and dance is the main source of funding for the VTRC. The auction will feature many generously donated items for attendants to bid on. One such item will be the Cool+Press® Kombi Boot, which combines pulsating compression and controlled cooling to reduce pain and swelling in horses' legs.
"It's a new product that we just started to sell this year," said Mikela Gundersen, of Horse Gym USA. " We've tried it on our own horses, and it has had an amazing affect on swollen legs and cooling legs down. The hope is that eventually every rider will have a set. We can all benefit from this new product, and it's an inexpensive way to make a big improvement in your horse."
Gunderson was personally involved with therapeutic riding, so giving back to the VTRC is very important to her. "I think that it is such a good cause. At a therapeutic riding center back in Denmark I was the instructor," she explained. "I think it is a great thing to be able to support."
Other great silent auction items donated include: two Extreme Key West Scooters, donated by Mad Dog Motorsports; a four day, three night stay at the Sherry Netherlands Hotel in New York City with $1,000 of "Mad Money" to spend, donated by Mr. and Mrs. David Page; a dream dinner at a private estate in the Palm Beach Polo Club, donated by Mr. Fredrick Boyer, Mr. Juan Gomez, Mr. & Mrs. David Page, Mrs. Karen Lloyd, and Mrs. Lee Syben; a Las Vegas World Cup jumping package or dressage package, including two plaza level tickets, two tickets to the Equestrian Aid Foundation party, four nights at the Marriott, and a $500 visa card, donated by the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center; one horse, one way equine air transport from Miami to either Argentina or Amsterdam or from either Argentina or Amsterdam back to Miami by Lazcar International Equine Air Transport, donated by Mr. Tony Alessandrini; and a chance to be Sheriff for a day, donated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The "Strides of Hope" event will host its annual silent auction this year with renowned equestrians Mason Phelps, Jr. and Michael Barisone as celebrity auctioneers.
The VTRC includes over 350 clients, and has four different programs to participate in: Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy, Horses for Heroes and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy. Founded in 1986, the annual Strides for Hope fundraiser has raised more than two million dollars for therapeutic and recreational horseback riding for special needs children and adults of Palm Beach County.
The 2009 "Strides of Hope" Annual Benefit Auction, Dinner and Dance is an event that takes the hard work and dedication of a lot of people to come together.
