Dressage Riders at 2007 WEF Press Conference to Field Questions

WELLINGTON, FL – January 10, 2007 – Top dressage riders Arlene ‘Tuny’ Page and Melissa Taylor will sit on the dais with show jumping and hunter riders to field questions at the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival Press Conference, scheduled for January 23 at noon in the Jockey Club of the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida.

Page and Taylor will be fielding questions on the three dressage shows that comprise the Stadium Jumping, Inc. Dressage Series, which will be presented at the upcoming 35th annual Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF).

WEF begins with show jumping action on January 24, and the first dressage show, Cosequin Wellington Dressage, will be held February 8 – 11. The second show, the Zada Enterprises, LLC Florida Dressage Classic, is scheduled for February 22 – 25. The finale show, the Zada Enterprises, LLC WEF Dressage Classic CDI-W CDIY, will take place March 22 – 25, after the show jumpers depart from Wellington to compete in Tampa for two more weeks. The CDI (Concours Dressage International) in Wellington is one of only 12 CDIs scheduled in the United States in 2007.

Highlights in this year’s series kick off with the $15,000 Cosequin Dressage/Show Jumping Team Spectacular on February 9, in which a dressage rider and a jumper rider pair up and compete in reverse roles, with the team accumulating the highest combined score claiming victory. Also featured this year are the hotly contested qualifiers for the 2007 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National Grand Prix Championship and the 2007 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National USEF Intermediaire I Championship/Pan American Games Selection Trials. These qualifiers will be held at both the February 8 – 11 show and the March 22 – 25 CDI. The national championships will be held at Gladstone, New Jersey, in June and the Pan Am Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July. The March CDI is also a qualifier for the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Dressage, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in April. An impressive addition to the series is the premiere of the $50,000 Cunningham Insurance Dressage Challenge presented by Great American Insurance Group, which guarantees $50,000 to the horse/rider combination that wins all three Grand Prixs in the 2007 WEF dressage series.

Top dressage riders from the U.S. and around the world compete in the Stadium Jumping, Inc. Dressage Series at WEF. International dressage superstars scheduled to compete in 2007 include Canada’s Ashley Holzer, a veteran of two World Equestrian Games, two Pan American Games, and two Olympic Games; Denmark’s Lars Petersen, a veteran of three World Equestrian Games, two World Cup Finals, and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games; and Colombia’s Cesar Parra, a veteran of two Pan Am Games, two Central American Games, the 2002 World Equestrian Games, and the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
