Go West and Joan Jacobs of Deeridge Farm Are Jumper Champions at CN Winter Equestrian Festival

Wellington, FL - In the eighth week of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival, Deeridge Farm of East Aurora, NY, and Wellington, FL, won three tricolors and multiple classes. Joan Jacobs and Go West were champions in the Adult Amateur 36-49 Jumpers.

Jacobs and Go West earned the championship through their win in the $10,000 Adult Amateur 36-49 Jumper Classic and fourth place in the $1,500 Time First Round class.

This was Jacobs' first big classic win in Florida with Go West and it was their first championship this year. "I'm thrilled! He's been there in the top ribbons every time, but we just hadn't gotten the blue," Jacobs said. "This isn't like the summer circuit. There are lots of good horses and riders down here."

Jacobs said the key to her classic win were "the angles." She explained, "It was about riding the right track, not the speed, this week. It was a tough one to beat. When the course has slick, little moves and turns, he's a lot better."

Melissa Jacobs and Jouet won the reserve championship in section "A" of the Children's Hunter 14 & Under division. The pair was first, second, and fifth in the division. Another reserve championship came from Phoebe Robinson and Maxim, who competed in the "B" section of the same division. They were first and second in their section.

Robinson and her second horse, Red Dragon, were second and fifth in the "A" section of the Children's Hunters, and Jacobs and her mount Dakota were first, third, and fifth in section "B".

Last week at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival, Charlie Jacobs and Pia won the $2,500 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Power and Speed class. They finished fourth in the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Charlotte Jacobs and Wilkington were seventh in the WIHS Equitation Hunter phase.

Deeridge Farm will compete next at week nine of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival on March 12-16.
