Clinician Line-up Sparkles at Western States Horse Expo

The list of headliners for this year’s Western States Horse Expo, June 8-10 in Sacramento, California, reads like a “Who’s Who” of the equine world.

In addition to headliners Pat and Linda Parelli and Linda Tellington-Jones, clinicians include Bob Avila, Wendy Murdoch, Al Dunning, Benny Guitron, Tim Kimura, Scott Purdum, Denny Emerson, Donna Snyder-Smith, Nancy Loving DVM, Larry Whitesell, Bonnie Davis, Raye Lochert, Jec Aristotle Ballou, Tony Basile and Katie Wetherall.

This stellar line-up represents experts in numerous disciplines: three-day eventing, starting the young horse, trail classes, developing riding skills, dressage, reining, cow horse, natural horsemanship, trail riding, gaited horses, equine health, camping with horses, equine dentistry, hackamore reinsmanship --- and much, much more. Equine cloning, a topic that raises great discussion among horse owners, will be featured in a forum presented by Genentec, leaders in that field.

Horse Expo is home to the largest display of horse trailers and tow vehicles in the world, in addition to over 500 vendors in the all-indoor shopping venues. The spacious grounds are filled with full-size barn displays, fencing, outbuildings, tractors, feeders, stalls, tow-capable RVs --- you name it! If it’s about horses and the lifestyle that surrounds them, it can be found at the Western States Horse Expo.

This year’s highlights include the Magnificent 7, a stock horse championship that will be held during the day on Friday with the finals on Friday night. The Saturday Evening Showcase will shine with entertainment galore, including some special surprise acts that are bound to thrill the audience.

Expo staff and owner believe that we need to support the youth of our country; this year the Expo will donate proceeds from the Equine Dream Art Show (over 100 never-before-seen pieces of equine and western art) to the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation, a charity that raises money for heart transplants for children. In addition, the Expo is sponsoring “equine experiences” for three Make-A-Wish Foundation youth.
