Wide World of Horses to Feature Wrangler Timed Event Championship

April 23, 24

TREVOR BRAZILE WINS RECORD FIFTH TITLE

The “King of Rodeo”, Trevor Brazile did it again! After five challenging rounds of Heading, Tie-Down Roping, Heeling, Steer Wrestling and Steer Roping, Brazile was left standing with his record-breaking, fifth Wrangler Timed Event Championship gold buckle! Not stopping there and in front of 20,500 fans from across the country, Brazile posted a total time of 281.7 which destroyed the Fastest Average Record set by Daniel Green in 2002 by 5.9 seconds. In all, Brazile took home total earnings of $69,000…$50,000 for his cumulative overall time; $3,000 for setting the new arena record for fastest average; and another $16,000 for securing the top two places in the fastest go-rounds. Brazile’s career WTEC earnings now stand at $467,500 – the most ever for any WTEC competitor.

If you missed the action – or would like to see it again, tune in on April 23 & 24 to see the Wrangler Timed Event Championship on Wide World of Horses. The program is produced by Sandbur Video and you can catch the action at 3:30 and 9:30 pm CST on Monday, April 23 or the next morning at 7 am.

K.C. Jones, another 4-time WTEC Champion from Hawk Springs, Wyoming, walked away with a second place check of $25,000 after fighting for his hard-earned time of 330.2 seconds on twenty-five head of stock. Jones finished a mere two seconds ahead of Kyle Lockett, the 2005 WTEC Champion from Ivanhoe, California. Lockett’s time of 332.2 seconds earned him $15,000. Lockett combined that total with another $7,500 in the fastest rounds from an impressive take of $22,500. J.R. Olson, the 2006 NFSR Average Champion and WTEC Rookie from Sheridan, Wyoming, secured fourth place and $10,000 with a time of 408.9 seconds.

The Wrangler Timed Event Championship was sponsored by Wrangler in conjunction with, Lucchese Boots, Compassionate Care Hospice, Priefert Ranch Equipment, Dodge Trucks, Economy Hearing Aid Centers, Boyd Gaming, Gist Silversmiths, the AQHA, Cactus Saddlery, the USTRC, Hot Heels, the Lane Frost Rehabilitation Center, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco, News 9, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Super West Trailers and the Whitten Inn – OKC.

The top 20 timed event cowboys in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rode into the Lazy E Arena this weekend for the 23rd annual Wrangler Timed Event Championship. This is pro rodeo’s most unique event and is often referred to as “The Ironman” of pro rodeo — it is a true test of versatility and stamina. Developed by the Lazy E in 1985 to determine the best all-around timed event cowboy in the world — the man who could stand out in more than his specialty event, the man who could be consistent in all five timed events. In 2007, this man is Trevor Brazile…the epitome of a true champion, and all-around American cowboy!

The Wrangler Timed Event Championship is a Lazy E Production. For more information on the Wrangler Timed Event Championship or other Lazy E events, visit http://www.lazye.com. For information on Wide World of Horses, visit http://www.wideworldofhorses.com.
