And the Winner is….

The AHP Seminar in New Orleans, Louisiana, will be held on June 25-27, 2009 at the New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center in the Warehouse District. There are many nicknames for the Crescent City, but AHP members put on their thinking caps and came up with 73 unique suggestions.

The Board of Directors narrowed the field to the top five names. Cheval Carnival was submitted by Jessica Smith, Paint Horse Journal. Chevaux du Bayou was the brainchild of Executive Director Chris Brune. Free Rein in The Big Easy was created by Eric Mitchell from Blood-Horse Publications. Let the Good Times Ride was offered by Affiliate Member, Lisa Groothedde. Mardi Gras of the Horse was the suggestion from Valrey Van Gundy from Northwest Rider Magazine.

Other AHP members who participated in the "Name the Seminar" survey included: Affiliate member L. A. Pomeroy (who named the 2007 and 2008 seminars); Sue Van Dyke, Washington Thoroughbred; Tabitha Knox, The Horse; Erin Ryder, The Horse; Jessica Hein, Paint Horse Journal; Affiliate member Martha Hayes; Affiliate member Steve Price; Sarah Evers, USEF; Arlene Newman, Breyer Animal Creations; Affiliate member Lisa Kemp; and Judy Walker, USHorse.biz.

79 members voted for their favorite name and the winner won by only two votes. Thanks to all who helped to choose the name for the 2009 AHP Seminar in New Orleans.

Mark your calendars to attend the AHP "Free Rein in The Big Easy" Seminar on June 25-27, 2009 in New Orleans!
