This year’s British Equestrian Federation Futurity Evaluation Series which has as one of its objectives, the search for potential Elite sport horses of the future, yielded a unique double double for both Future Sport Horses stud and one of their Elite mares Juswith Genoa, dam of the legendary Olympic Medallist & Triple Rolex CCI**** Winner, Winsome Adante.
The evaluation series assessed young horses from foals to 3 years old in the 3 Olympic disciplines of Dressage, Eventing and Showjumping, as well as Ponies. Over 550 young horses passed in front of an expert evaluation panel & vet and of them over 170 were Event horses.
Finishing top of the table for Eventers (all ages) was Juswith Genoa’s filly foal Future Gold Digger who was awarded Elite status with the outstanding score of 92.5%. This is the highest score ever awarded to an Event foal or an Event mare/filly & is the Jt Highest score EVER awarded to an Eventer. This was a unique achievement as Juswith Genoa was also the dam of Future Glamour, a full sister to Future Gold Digger, who was the Highest Graded Event Foal & Champion Event Foal in 2006. Out of the 4 years that the BEF Futurity Series have been running, Juswith Genoa has been the dam of the highest graded Event foal for 2 of those years with full sisters! Julia says “to own a mare like her is such a privilege, and with Dan’s oldest sibling Future Genie now under saddle with International event rider Brook Staples and receiving rave reports from him, it’s a very exciting time for Future Sport Horses, especially as we have another 4 siblings yet to be backed, 2 of which are already Eventing Champions!”. “One day I might actually be persuaded to part with one of them” laughs Julia.
The 2nd double was for Future Sport Horses themselves. The highest graded foals to 3 yr olds from the evaluations were invited to take part in the BEF Elite Championship Show. The Eventing Discipline was judged by British Olympic Eventing Team Chef d’Equipe, Yogi Breisner who selected another of FSH’s foals, Future Proposition, not only as the Champion Event Foal, but then also Champion of the Eventing Discipline from the Champion & Reserve Eventing Foals, Yearlings, 2 yr olds and 3 yr olds. Future Proposition then went on to finish the day as Jt Res. Supreme Champion across all ages and all disciplines!
This means that in 2008, Future Sport Horses bred the BEF Highest Graded Eventer in the UK AND the BEF Champion Eventer in the UK with 2 different horses – a truly unique achievement!
Like Future Gold Digger, Future Proposition had already been awarded Elite status as an Eventer by the BEF Evaluation Panel. To then go on to be the 2008 Champion Eventer for the UK was particularly special for FSH owner, Julia Hodkin as Future Proposition represents 3 generations of breeding by FSH, being their own young stallion Future Illusion (by Fleetwater Opposition), out of Allercombe Loveday who was also picked by Yogi as the winning Eventing Broodmare. Julia not only bred Future Proposition & his sire Future Illusion, but also Future Illusion’s dam, the Champion Sporthorse Broodmare, Future Illicit Affair.
Future Illusion already has the incredible record of 100% BEF 1st Premium foals from his first 2 crops. He is now being referred to in the UK as one of the “Hottest Young Stallions in British Breeding”. Excitingly for US & Canadian breeders, frozen semen from Future Illusion will be available for the 2009 season, with FSH currently finalising some fantastic promotional offers for breeders. To add a cherry on top of the icing on the cake, FSH are thrilled to announce that they have 2 twin embryos from Winsome Adante’s oldest sibling Future Genie by Future Illusion due in 2009! The Future is most definitely ‘bright’ as they say!!
