Top International Women Polo Players Convene in Wellington, Florida to Assist in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

WELLINGTON, FL - March 29, 2007 - The Women’s Championship Tournament (WCT) will take place on April 10, 2007 and continue through April 15th at the Outback Polo Club located in Wellington, Florida. Showcasing the highest level of women’s polo in the United States, the WCT promises fun, excitement and plenty of action as top ranking women players from around the world arrive to compete for the championship title and to support Play For P.I.N.K. in funding breast cancer research.

PLAY FOR P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate Diagnosis, New Technology, Knowledge) is a grassroots fundraising organization using lifestyle and sporting events to raise funds for breast cancer research. 100% of all proceeds are donated to our partner, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to fund the world's top researchers.

The WCT, created in 2005 by top woman professional Sunny Hale, was founded to increase the level of women’s polo played in the U.S., as well as to promote awareness of the large number of talented women players located throughout the world. With women players representing the largest growing sector of today’s polo it is only natural that there should be an event that provides the opportunity to compete against the best international women players.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14: WCT Tournament Finals & Award Ceremony. (late afternoon-time tba)

Following the Awards Ceremony everyone is invited to participate in the fun of an Argentinean Asada along with Dancing to the Raquel Williams Band, Calcutta and Silent Auction to benefit Play For P.I.N.K.

Silent Auction donations are both original and highly attractive. Artist Bruce Helander’s original work of art dedicated to women’s polo will be featured the evening of the event, as well as displayed in the 7 Chukker at the International Polo Club Palm Beach throughout the week of the tournament. In addition, word has it that top polo player’s Nicholas Roldan, Jeff Hall, Mike Azzaro, Carlos Gracida, Owen Rinehart, Agustin Merlos, Mariano Aguerre, Adam Snow and Javier Astrada are set to auction off their polo expertise by providing a lesson to the highest bidders. If you are interested in learning the sport or simply sprucing up your current game you will find this evening the perfect opportunity.
