World Record Set at Keeneland

Robert C. Tanklage and Wesley Ward’s One Hot Wish, a two-year-old filly making her first career start, set a world record of :48.87 for 4 ½ furlongs in the second race at Keeneland on April 12, 2007.

One Hot Wish, ridden by Rafael Bejarano, led the entire way, pulling off under hand urging to win by 12 ¼ lengths. The win was made even more impressive considering the filly was running into winds of 20 mph, gusting to 30 mph.

Bred by co-owner and trainer Wesley Ward, One Hot Wish is by Bring the Heat out of Wish for a Jeanne, by Roar.

The previous world record of :49.00 was set by the five-year-old gelding Motivo on September 5, 2006, at Yavapai Downs in Arizona.
