Young Riders Share their Stories in Saddle Club Video Journals

Young Riders share their stories in Saddle Club Video Journals on Public Television Stations across America.

TORONTO, CA (November 13, 2006)—The Saddle Club, the world’s most popular television series about girls and horses, has joined forces with the United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. and The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. to produce a series of special features for public television stations that promote equestrian sport and celebrate the commitment, teamwork and friendship of young riders at their national finals.

The Saddle Club Video Journals feature young riders at the Prince Philip Games, the North American Junior and Young Riders Championship and the USEF Pony Finals National Championships competing in pony races, dressage, show jumping and cross country. The special features, included with episodes of the series on public television stations, will begin airing December 3, 2006.

“We are thrilled that The Saddle Club has expanded its distribution to public television stations through APT Exchange,” said John Long, CEO of the USEF. “The high profile USEF competitions in these Saddle Club features demonstrate the benefits of our sport and the unique bond kids can form with our four-legged equine friends. They celebrate everything we stand for.”

In the Saddle Club Video Journals, young riders share what they’ve learned from competing, their goals and why they love horses.

From The Saddle Club Video Journals, kids answer their favorite question: What do you like about horses and competing?

They have all different personalities, every single one. That’s what I like about them.

- Parker Schooley (13) TN

They are beautiful animals and they have such enormous heart. They will do anything for you. They always seem to amaze me.

- Mackenzie Rosman (16) CA

The Pony Finals is for kids who want to learn how to take care of their horses safely and have a good time doing it.

- Kathryn Murphy (13) MN

It’s good knowing that I made it, I accomplished my goals. I made it to the top with my pony.

- Alicia Hall (13) AK

I want to go to the Olympics. Not just the Junior Olympics, the big time.

- Cassidy Lundmark (15) IL

Before I went to the ring my coach told me, to just go out and have fun. That was the big thing. Remember this moment!

- Kathlyn McMorris (18) IL

Pony Club is all about learning: learning to ride, learning to take care of your horse, and learning to work as part of a team.

- Kathryn Karns (13) C-1 member of Greenville Foothills Pony Club, SC

Just like The Saddle Club, these Video Journals with real kids at competitions are about fun, friendship and teamwork. Speaking for all the fans and competitors -- Parker Schooley said, “I think everyone should ride. It should be a riding world!’

The Saddle Club is a 26-part children’s drama series about young girls and their adventures with horses, based on the novels written by popular children’s author Bonnie Bryant. The series stars three heroines, Carole, Stevie and Lisa who form the Saddle Club at Pine Hollow Stables. Set amidst the excitement of the horse world, each episode takes the girls on a journey of personal discovery and growth.

The Saddle Club series is a co-production of Crawford Productions PTY, Ltd. (Australia) and Protocol Entertainment Inc. (Canada). It has been a huge success in Australia, aired on YTV in Canada, on the Discovery Kids Channel and is now seen nationwide on public television stations through APT Exchange.
