"Charlotte Grand Prix Equestrian Classic" at Charlotte Jumper Classic to Be Televised

Charlotte, NC - April 14, 2009 - The 2009 Charlotte Jumper Classic, CSI 5* is pleased to announce that the "Charlotte Grand Prix Equestrian Classic" will be televised this year. The broadcast will feature the $450,000 grand prix, which hosts the best show jumpers in the world competing for the biggest purse in the United States. The Charlotte Jumper Classic was held on April 10-12 at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC.

"This is the first year the Charlotte Jumper Classic Grand Prix event will be televised," said Robert Johnson, President of the Charlotte Jumper Classic, "expanding our audience and giving more people an opportunity to enjoy and experience the excitement of show jumping."

The Charlotte Grand Prix Equestrian Classic will air on Thursday, April 23, at 4 p.m. local time on Fox Sports National. The event will replay on Saturday, April 25, at 9 p.m. (EDT) on Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Carolina, and Fox Sports Tennessee channels.

In addition to those channels, the top show jumping event will be shown on ION Television. The airdates are Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at 6 p.m. (EDT).

Spectators will be able to relive the Charlotte Jumper Classic, and new fans will be able to watch the highlight class of the weekend, the grand prix. Competing in this year's grand prix were Olympians Rodrigo Pessoa, McLain Ward, Beezie Madden, Chris Kappler, Lauren Hough, Pablo Barrios, and Todd Minikus. Other top riders that competed in Charlotte were Georgina Bloomberg, Brianne Goutal, Paige Johnson, Karen Cudmore, and Charlie Jayne.

The Charlotte Jumper Classic is a signature fundraising event for the Bobcats Youth Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children and youth in the community. The Charlotte Jumper Classic will host more than 150 horses in Uptown Charlotte and features $575,000 in prize money.
