USDA Government Vet to Discuss Equine Virus with Concerned Wellington Equestrians
Wellington, FL - December 14, 2006 - On Saturday, December 16, USDA Government Veterinarian, Dr. Julie Gauthier, will meet with equestrians, community members, and members of the media to discuss the Equine Rhinopneumonitis Virus. The disease, also known as Equine Herpes Virus or EHV, is a highly infectious viral disease that may be affecting the Wellington community. Early reports indicate that this disease might be the root cause of the recent outbreak in the area.
In an attempt to contain and control this illness, Stadium Jumping Inc. elected to cancel the American Grand Prix Association Championship and the Christmas Festival Horse Show, scheduled for this weekend in Wellington.
The meeting with Dr. Gauthier will be held at 10:00am in the Jockey Club at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club on 14440 Pierson Road in Wellington, FL. The Jockey Club, also referred to as the VIP tent, is located adjacent to the large, grass Internationale Arena.
This discussion forum is open to all members of the community.
