Yasmine Abdallat Win Jumper Championship at HITS Thermal Horse Show

Wellington, FL – January 30, 2007 – At the first week of the Horse-Shows-in-the-Sun competition in Thermal, CA, on January 23-28, 2007, Yasmine Abdallat of Thousand Oaks, CA, and her horse, Team Harmony’s More Glory, picked up the championship in the Modified Amateur Jumpers.

Abdallat is one of five riders that are part of Team Harmony, a group that is sponsored by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint al Hussein of Jordan. Abdallat competes in the jumpers under the tutelage of Karen Healey and is the only rider in North America that is sponsored by Team Harmony. Princess Haya asked Abdallat to join Team Harmony in March of 2005. Princess Haya wanted Team Harmony to continue to aid equestrians.

In Thermal this past week, Abdallat and Team Harmony’s More Glory won the first power and speed class, were fourth in the speed class and they finished third in the $1,000 Modified Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, which gave them the tricolor.

It was their first show of 2007, and Abdallat explained, "This week, we were just going to have fun and try to be consistent." Team Harmony’s More Glory, known as Hamilton in the barn, is a 12 year old Dutch Warmblood gelding whose grandsire is the famous Nimmerdor. The pair has been together for six years and has worked their way up to the Amateur Jumper ranks.

"He felt great," Abdallat remarked. "He was very hyper at first, but he calmed down by the end of the week!"

Abdallat feels that Hamilton helps her in the ring every time and has attributes that help them win. "He knows his job and does it well," she mentioned. "He excels at power and speed and in [regular] speed classes. He’s a very efficient turner and doesn’t waste time in the air."

While Abdallat will continue to show Team Harmony’s More Glory this winter and will show Team Harmony’s Rainbow later in the year, she is also on the hunt for a new mount and hopes to show the new horse as soon as possible.

Abdallat and Team Harmony’s More Glory will show this upcoming week in Thermal from January 30 to February 4, 2007.
