Jenny Oz LeRoy Joins The Jumper Classic Board of Directors
South Hamilton, Massachusetts, June 27, 2007-
Bringing her unique sparkle and energy to the 2007 Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic, Amateur Jumper and CEO of LeRoy Adventures, owner of Tavern on the Green, Jennifer Oz LeRoy has joined The Jumper Classic Board of Directors.
Jenny, who competed at the Jumper Classic in 2006, plans to return as a competitor in 2007. "I'm excited to be part of this horse show and to be able to do something to help an organization that is so dedicated to both horses and riders," she says. "It's very efficiently run and there is a lot of energy there. I wish it lasted two weeks instead of one!"
The Jumper Classic Board of Directors is a blend of riders and business professionals who guide its venue of Grand Prix show jumping and a series of competitions over five event-filled days in early September. Now in its 18th year, the board includes Grand Prix riders Darren Graziano, M. Michael Meller, Candace King, Mary Crane and show course designer Richard Jeffrey. Jeff Papows, Rider and CEO of Maptuit Corporation, is Chairman. Jenny also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Horse Show Association of America until recently.
"We're delighted to have the business and competition experience Jenny will add to our planning for the Jumper Classic," says Melissa Lovasco, President. "She loves the show jumping world and understands how our combined efforts make this the spectacular and fun event it is known for among the riders." In addition to providing a setting that is ideal for this level of competition, the Jumper Classic hosts several rider events and a VIP Pol Roger Champagne Luncheon.
At just 22, Jenny Oz LeRoy found herself guiding the family business as CEO of LeRoy Adventures, owner of Tavern on the Green in New York City, after her father, Warner LeRoy, passed away in 2001. A few years before his death, she had begun to learn the business from the ground up and was quick to demonstrate her business acumen with the restaurant and the Russian Tea Room she also manages. In 2006, she collaborated with the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center to introduce "Tavern on the Green Café", a small-scale restaurant and catering operation on the winter circuit show jumping grounds. Her business "Jenny Oz" offers a boutique line of equestrian apparel and accessories that reflect her undaunted spirit.
Jenny, who began riding as a child, has only recently returned to the world of show jumping since her business focus and family have taken priority. "I decided it was time to get back to riding. It made me happy, and you have to live your life," she says. In addition to her father's legacy, Jenny's middle name serves as a reminder of her family's achievements. Her grandfather Mervan LeRoy was producer and director of The Wizard of Oz.
Jenny is also owner of Oz Farm in upstate New York, where she keeps her horses when she's not competing. "I love my horses - I keep them all even after they are retired." Her current show jumper, Legend, is affectionately called "The Pie" after the famous horse in the movie National Velvet.
The 2007 Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic will be held Wednesday, September 5th through Sunday, September 9th at the Coldwell Banker Previews Grand Prix Field in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. The five days of show jumping, competition culminates in the $75,000 Grand Prix and the Pol Roger VIP Champagne Luncheon on Sunday the 9th.
