Event Description: Join Pfizer Animal Health and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) at a special event to benefit the Barbaro Fund for Equine Health and Safety Research and the Permanently Disabled Jockey’s Fund. To help kick off this event, Pfizer Animal Health has made a special donation to the Barbaro Fund.
NTRA Charities and Pfizer Animal Health: For three years, Pfizer Animal Health has been a proud partner of NTRA and NTRA Charities, which established the Barbaro Memorial Fund in 2007 to help raise awareness and monetary support for equine medical research. One specific target for the direction of monies raised by the Barbaro Memorial Fund has been research projects that focus on laminitis. Since its inception, the fund has given nearly $400,000 toward laminitis research. Now with a new name, the Barbaro Fund for Equine Health and Safety Research is expanding the scope of medical research projects to include the overall health and wellness of horses.
“We’re proud to support the Barbaro Fund for Equine Health and Safety Research in their efforts to raise money for equine medical research,” said Kristin Ruff, Senior Equine Marketing Manager for Pfizer Animal Health. “We want to thank Belmont Park and the jockeys for helping us on this special day to promote equine health and wellness in honor of Barbaro and all horses.”
“We are grateful to Pfizer Animal Health for its commitment to equine health and safety,” said Alexander M. Waldrop, NTRA President and CEO. “By supporting the Barbaro Fund for Equine Health and Safety Research, Pfizer Animal Health is helping to ensure that the legacy of Barbaro lives on in a tangible and meaningful way.”
