Gold Coast 6 Closes Summer With A Bang
Over 400 horses descended on the Los Angeles Equestrian Center for Gold Coast 6 (Aug. 28-31). Not only is this the sixth show of the Gold Coast Series sponsored by Markel Insurance, but the show is also a benefit for the Los Angeles Hunter Jumper Association. “Gold Coast 6 serves as a fundraiser for LAHJA,” said President Marnye Langer. “Our members really support this show, and it also hosts our LAHJA Horsemanship and Rosewood Medal Finals. Gold Coast 5 is in the Record Books and Popular with Competitors
The popular Gold Coast Horse Show Series wrapped up its fifth show of the seven show season on July 20 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Exhibitors entered over to 300 horses, attracted by the wide range of classes, the convenient schedule and outstanding staff. Laura Mormann especially appreciates the scheduling since she attends college near San Francisco. All of her classes are on one day so she is able to commute. "All my classes are on Saturday," she said. "I’m all done showing in one day. During the year, I don’t have to miss any school." She rode Paige Sorenson’s Rocco to victory in the LAHJA/Dominion Saddlery Senior Medal Class, and they are leading the series points in the Modified Working Hunters. Ten year old Jessica Pyfer brought home another show jumping gold medal for Zone 10 after winning the 2008 USEF Pony Jumper Finals individual championship. Pyfer’s steady, careful rounds over three different courses with her pony, Sosha, put her on top as no other rider managed three fault-free scores over the Level 3 (3’3") courses. "The best thing about Pony Finals was just being there in Kentucky," said Pyfer. "Getting clear rounds was great, and the triple combinations were fun.
