All three individual show jumping medals at the Olympics were determined by jump offs. The Show Jumping individual Olympic medals are determined by a two round competition. After three qualifying rounds, two of where were the Show Jumping team competition, the top 35 riders qualify for the individual championship. Although all four U.S. riders qualified for the individual championship, the rules state that each country can only have a maximum of three riders in the individual competition.
